The Daily Beast: New GOP “Racist” Headache
New GOP “Racist” Headache – Page 1 – The Daily Beast

As the Republican Party tries to rebrand itself to attract more minorities and other voters turned off by its approach, another Republican throws cold water on such efforts: Ms. Audra Shay, a top Young Republican Official, laughs at a racial slur about President Barack Obama (see screen shot to the left).
Why is it so difficult for the Republican Party to understand that instances such as this makes it a lot harder to attract and retain voters, such as minorities, in its ranks? When will they understand that fact?
No matter how Ms. Shay wants to spin or deflect this, rebranding the Party does not mean changing its colors because it goes well beyond that. Rebranding also means reformatting, if you will, much of the Party’s stand on race along policies.
However, let us be clear that not all Republicans are racists. There are good members in that Party who care and love this country and believe we all are created equal regardless of race. It is unfortunate to say that the fringe minority appears to be calling the shots when it comes to race.
If those who believe in race equality do not stand up to bigotry, the GOP is destined, bound to become a regional party.
Certain members of her Party have repudiated such comments: here or here
